Remember Herby Redmond the dancing groundskeeper, Joe Diroff "The Brow", "Bubba" Helms & 1984 World Series celebration, they are in there too. Interesting personal anecdotes by numerous Tiger players including Mark Fidrych, Sparky Anderson, Mickey Lolich, Earl Wilson, Kirk Gibson, Willie Horton, Billy Rogell, George Kell and other anecdotes from the likes of Joe LaPointe, Joe Schmidt, Drew Sharp, Bill McGraw, etc. You obviously learn about the history of the Detroit Tigers and Tiger Stadium including obscure bits of stadium history. I've heard many a story from my friends who sold hot dogs back in the day, so I especially enjoyed Chapter 5 includes which interviews with former ushers, concession workers, press box attendants and other "ballpark people". I think it's the one of the best books I've seen about the old ballpark. I also remember sitting in freezing weather watching the Lions play the Packers on Thanksgiving day. I fondly remember my dad taking me to a 1968 World Series game and my favorite player, Al Kaline hit a home run into the left field stands. Tiger Stadium is now "long gone" because last week the wrecking crew removed the final remnants of the old ballpark.
